4th Annual Northern California Self Storage Owners Symposium

April 29th, 2010 – The Lesher Center for the Arts * Walnut Creek, CA  * 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM

The California Self Storage Association is proud to invite our members to participate inour only Northern California event geared specifically for Self Storage facility owners!

Our upcoming event will feature keynote speaker Kit Yarrow PhD. Kit's Presentation, titled "The Marketer's Guide to Hooking-Up with Gen Y" will address

The new generation of cell phone toting, texting, Twittering and tech-savvy youth all communicate wirelessly and get 100% of needed information from the Internet – delivered directly to their cell phones! How are they going to find your self storage facility? Are they even going to own possessions to put in your self storage facility? Don’t underestimate the scale and breadth of the information transformation and its impact on consumer spending patterns. Learn what internet marketing tools you must deploy to attract the Millennium Generation consumer – Gen Y - to your storage facility.

Generation Y, those born between 1980 and 2000 are today's most enthusiastic shoppers and by 2017 they'll have more spending power than the Boomers. As the first generation to grow up with the Internet they think, relate and buy differently than any other generation. This is a generation is used to being seen and heard - and they expect you to know them too.

Marketers will acquire an essential understanding of how Generation Y is fundamentally different from other generations, what motivates them to buy and what they're looking for in their relationships with retailers and brands. Participants will acquire actionable strategies for using social media and emotionally engaging Gen Y.

Kit Yarrow is a professor of psychology and marketing at Golden Gate University and their 2009 Outstanding Scholar. She's been a visiting professor of consumer behavior at universities around the world and she's consulted to businesses including General Electric, Del Monte, and Nokia. As a consumer psychologist Kit applies clinical insights to marketing dilemmas as she has in her new book, Gen BuY: How Tweens, Teens and Twenty-Somethings are Revolutionizing Retail. In a review by Publisher's Weekly, Gen BuY was described as, "a must-read for all who hope to keep their companies relevant and viable."

Kit is often called upon by the national media to explain and predict consumer behavior. She's a frequent guest on NPR's Marketplace and on Good Morning America, and she's often quoted by publications such as The New York Times, Oprah Magazine, U.S. News and World Report, and The Wall Street Journal.
